damaged engine

hi my mate was in his car the other day and wheel span for ages until the revs went to high and the engine cut out.
when it was restarted it was sounding like a three cylinder job but metaly,
i think the piston has smaked the valve and either bent it or snaped it.
its a 1400 carbd lump from an astra mk2.
would it be worth a rebuild?
what does everyone think!?

oh yea it just had the head rebuilt about 500 or so miles ago and a full rebuild about 2 and a half years ago, it was from a mk2 astra stage rally car!

will do tomoz, im gona take the sparks out forst to see what the ends are like, bent or what not, look out for any tell tale signs.
hope its not to bad. are valves hard to replace?

spark plugs wont tell you anything mate.

ok, thought the valve might have hit it, but ive realised its not near the dam thing!
gutting tho, bloody fast engine, only a four speed but it would be screeming at 120 needs another gear

easy to change the valves need to get a spring compressor to remove the colits to get the valves out but make sure the new valves are the same as a rally engine might have been uprated

when youve fixed it make sure your mate gets a rev counter, i did the same to mine went to about 9k pmsl bits went everywhere.

lift off the rocker cover, check to make sure it has'nt just snapped or threw off a rocker, that would cuase it to sound on 3 cyclinders.

nah didnt sort it, mate sold it for ?100, payed about ?250 a week before :(
gutted i would have had that engine too.
