I had a real ball ache with my twin 40's, i had bought some of a freind he fitted them and cocked it up big time so i got them reffitted and setup and balanced. Make sure he knows how to proper set up and balance them as otherwise it will run like crap. If not get to a proper carb tuner/performance garage and have them set up and if you wanna spend alot of money get it rolling road setup you, can then get max bhp out of them. I still need to do this to myn but i have had them set up and they are perfectly balanced with each other. What engine you putting them on, myn is a 1.4 sr and it goes like a rocket and the sound is immense like THUNDER UNDER YOUR BONNET !!!enjoy!!!:thumb:

If they are brand new they will have to be set up for your engine. I would deffo get them set up and if your wallet lets you get them on a rolling road and get them proper set up you will feel the difference:eek: I got myn put on free by a mate he did not do it right at all your mate should easily put them on with no trouble if he is a good mechanic. But the thing with twin webers is there old school and mechanics nowadays are used to injection cars etc. So he might not be able to get them running perfect but then again i dont know how good your mate is. If he cant deffo get then proper set up cus you will be in for a treat when i put my foot down its not exhaust noise its pure engine noise and people stare and it scares the life out of everyone. It is proper nice:D anyway enough day dreaming i have hte urge to go for a drive nowlol

IMO you can only go so far with setting up twin 40's without some form of air/fuel ratio meter, rolling road and a big selection of jets.
Your mate may well be able to get it running well but having a pro set it up will make an amazing difference, more power, lots of low down torque and decent on fuel.
Ask around to find someone good,
Being able to tune twin carbs is an art,a fadeing one at that, there isnt many people at all that know how to set them up properly.
Find an old timer thats about 50 years old who grew up on carbs.
