I know a few of you are into your motorsport, and with that in mind, do any of these people name a sump guard fitted to their cars.

I am attempting to fabricate one out of a piece of 6mm aluminium and some Angle / box section and i would like any shetches or pictures to make my life a little easier

Any help would be appreciated

youl need brackets to attach to the bolt of the swing arm, wher it is mounted to the chassi.
my mate ysed a mk2 escort sump guard for his nova, just made new brackets.
i fabricated my own one but after a few nocks it was beyond repair. so im making a new one now.
have you got a tank guard?

I havent, but i need one. I hears it doesnt need to be as strong as the sump guard, therefore can use 2 or 3mm metal or even plastic

the skoda rally team simply used sheets of plyboard. their theory was they are cheaper to replace than it is to try & straighten metal. paint one right, & it would look very good. the thing is, the sumpguard is only going to keep small debris out, anything big would chuck you off the road.

they used ply for a sump guard or tank guard?
im useing an old bonnett for a tank guard, does the job fine. just gota gut it to shape, and make sure the edges are not sharp.
most of the impact of rocks etc are absobed by the sump, thats why my sump guard is being fixt now :(

Grp A Novas used a stiff alloy one to double up as a lower strut brace also.

2 of the chassis strengthening plates have threaded bosses welded to them, they are welded into the fr chassis legs & are the rear mounts for the sumpguard. I think the fr mounts are drilled into the cross member. Pics in the competition build manual.

OMP make a sump guard complete with brackets. Anyone who sell OMP stuff should be able to sell you one. I think they are listed in the Demon Tweeks catalogue too.

yea im on about for a tank guard. it all depends on wat sort of competeition your doing, im guessing its rallying.
if its tarmark then a thin sump about 5-6 mil is cool, forestry 10-11 mil is more like it.
road rallying is up to you wether you want 1 or not.
