OK quick question. I have a F reg 1.3 SR. Upon taxing and insuring my car i discovered a problem. Initiallly when idleing the revs tend to fluctulate between 0.500 and 1,000 rpm. This is all fine. Once the car has warmed up the problems occur. Going through the gears is causing problems at junctions and roundabouts. Wheever i go to change gear and put the clutch down the revs drop dramaticly..... to 0. This is not good at busy junctions when i keep staling! Does anyoe have any ideas?

Take it to a garage that can tune the carb, they will adjust the fuel/air ratio, and set the idle.
Should cost about ?20 ish.

ok cheers, latest development now is that its deciding to kangeroo jump, initialy i thought this to be petrol but tank was half full. I put in another ?10 and its carried on, could this be the carb aswell?

Sounds like the auto-choke playing up to me.

well, this may work as it has worked extremely well for me. i had exactly the same problem, all i did was adjust the idle up to about 2000 revs for a few days and drove with no problems than eventually turned it down to idle at about 1000. the car now has sorted itself and starts first time every time and even when its freezing cold.

give it a try before you start spending money

i thought it may be the auto choke not turning off. My dad being the handy man he is decided to rev the engine to warm it up. No good

weber made a carb for this car, you would need a 1300 twin choke manifold, & an adaptor plate to run the 32/34 carb, Much better in terms of bhp gains-Probably abt 3bhp! lol but its mainly a better built carb-More efficient etc

sounds expensive.........

can be, ?250 brand new from on-line autosport, allthough they do pop up on e-bay regurlarly for quite a bit less.

more reliable because the weber has mechanically operated 2nd choke but the std Pierburg runs a vacuum operated. Not so good after 20 yrs neglect.

Mikey weres the temp guage sitting? my chokes not dropping out coz my thermostat is jammed open at the mo so the temp guage is showing just over a quater. Runs like a bag of spanners for the 1st 5mins till it gets its self warmed up abit.
