Depends on what engine it's for as to what it looks like and where it is. Which engine are you after a pic for?

Cheers

Well my car is originally a 1.2 sx, now with an XE, so should have an external fuel pump. It wont start & I believe that to be the problem, My mate got one off a 16v ecotec Cav yesterday, but I dunno what one looks like, n what he has given me is not what I was expecting one to look like! Stupid thing to say but I havent got a clue abt these pumps.

I can't really help here. IIRC the external pump should be mounted near the tank. That's about all I know about them.

Sorry for not being much help

Well whatever he unbolted was near the axle. & Fuel came out when he took it off, so must be a pump, but theres no wires!?

That was probably the fuel filter then.

MPi pumps should be located alongside the chassis leg at the rear behind the r/bumper. Cylindrical device with a couple electric wires running to it.

Thats what you want, anyhow.

Unless, your 1.2sx is a spi nova, and the intank pump has been swapped for a MPI one.

Who knows, how can you tell a GTE/GSi tank to a standard one?

I think he has given me a filter the plank! Behind the bumper is where the pump is on cavs, I'll get it next weekend. Would a Vectra 1.8 fuel pump be ok?

If you cant see a pump attached to the chassis legs, then you might have an internal pump.
Was the car a 1.2spi originally?

Yeah I think so.
