As promised pics of my recently purchased rally spec '90 GTE.

Really impressed with how clean she is. Little bit of a culture shock from a 1999 Astra cdx 2.0 but much more fun.

A little of the spec...

Shot blast under bonnet, floor & arches then painted white
new section of roof welded in to replace sunroof (glass roof not safe for rallying)
respray in black (was grey)
New rally spec brake lines front to rear
New rally spec fuel lines front to rear
New braided brake hoses
Complete head rebuild
Corbeau evolution drivers seat
Cobra Monaco S passenger
Luke 4 point harness's
No rear seats
Rollcentre full rollcage large diameter(bolt in) + extra door supports
Momo steering wheel
Spax springs dropped 30mm
Green stuff pads

Theres loads more but I havnt the time to list

The car was prepped to race in the stock hatch rally/track seasons but was never used. As it was a stock hatch club no engine, box or zorst mods were allowed so its performance is completly standard. The previous owner spent 7 years prepping it and after all this time and effort, when it was almost ready, was given a go in an impreza and then obviously the nova was now out of the question for racing! For that I thank subaru!

When I got the car it had done only 25 miles in 7 years. I had to replace a few things to make it road legal again and got a MOT on it. When I taxed it the woman behind the counter said "there seems to have been a lapse in the vehicle licence?" yeah seven years love!

Im in 2 minds as to keep it as I have just brought another old skool vaux and I think I prefer this....

It is a van bye the way(another vehicle that has never been on the road since mods, but this ones been sitting 8 years)!

So what one do you lot prefer?

That is what is making the decision hard. That is the cleanest nova ive seen for some time but I have seen many other novas. The MK1 van on the other hand is so rare I dont think ive seen one for well over 5 years. There is one user on migweb with a mk1 van so thats got to be saying something + its got a red top, rear discs, is almost as clean just not underneath. The nova is so cleanI dont want to drive it!

They are both too mint to sell, the nova especially.

believe it or not they where both within 5 miles of my house. The van was my cousins and he did it in 1998 and the gte was a mate of a mate etc.

I can only keep one and the more I think about it it has to be the van.

How ****ing retro can you get???

I can just picture it now. waking up one windy morning and seeing my convertible garage out the window, both cars and the bike looking a little dusty!

well the time has come and i will be selling the Nova. Not sure how much its worth so if your interested make me an offer.
Id say its 98% finished. Has an oil leak from the sump I think and the wheels need balancing. Just needs a little TLC to make it perfect. Also needs a 16v or let to finish it off (+ strengthening)! Anyone interested let me know or if you could give me an idea of what its worth????
