View Full Version : Pull oot the windows
Looking for advice on winda removal...
Shortly doing a respray and wonder whether easier to leave windas in or remove them. Mainly side windas and windscreen?
V Small areas of rust near rubber on side windas and stone dent on front window by vents needs treating and paint peeling from prev touch ups. How fiddely is it getting windas oot and then back in again.?
Don't want those tell tail spray lines if I can get away with it around windas but don't want hastle of broken windas or windas that won't go back in!
Yer help is (as always) grateful.
oh now, that is interesting!
the rear quarter windows and the boot window all push out with a bit of effort, make sure someone stands on the other side tho to catch it. start in the corners using your foot push against it whilst helping the seal out with your fingers. they go back in using a piece of string, place the string in the channel on the seal right the way round so that the ends cross at the bottom edge. get someone to put the window in place, bottom edge first, then start pulling the string one end at a time. it helps if whoever is on the outside follows the string putting a little bit of pressure on the seal to sqeeze it in place. you will see what i mean when you try it. as for the windscreen i wouldnt bother coz its bonded in, you need a hot knife or cheese wire to cut it out and its messy , unless your a windscreen fitter.

yours was probably replaced at a previous time coz as i understand it, all nova windscreens are bonded.

the front window is NOT bonded in, it has a small line of glue on it that is all, i had my full set of windows out in no longer than 10mins
just get some warm water, put some washing up liqued in it then pull back the seal squirt some of the warm water all around the window, the glue is that shit the washing up liquid dissolves it, then reomve it from there, remember tho be VERY carefull because the front windscreen is laminated unlike the rest of them so it will crack easier than the rest
its a piece of piss and it will make it easier especially if there is rust around the seal area that needs rid of
