electrical problem...

right, when driving, mostly happens when driving on motor, around 70ish
the headlight's(looks like im flashing people lol ), dash light's etc all light up really bright, and amp cuts out

they dont stay constant bright, they go really bright, then normal again,

im guessing the alternater is over charging the battery?

if so, i've been offered an alternator from an ecotec 2.0 16v, would this been the same as the c20xe altenator?

Yeah it does sound like something to do with the voltage regulator, an xev alternator should fit.

so... how easy is it to change an altenator on an xe in a nova,

got a feeling its going to be a pig of a job lol

Looks like an engine out job on mine! dunno abt everyone elses.
My XE was done by Novatech apparently, the engine sits quite close to the rad & slam panel-wht abt urs?

cant really see it being an engine out job...
