Morning all,

As some of you may have seen i've been looking to change my alternator to a 70 amp from a 1.8 Astra. I discovered earlier that my present alternator is pushing out 14.94V @ 1100 rpm with nothing running except the block, dropping to 14.77V with main beam, heater, rear screen HU and amp. Really this is above what is considered normal, i'm gessing that the regulator has gone, is it likely to have damaged anything else?
The present unit is the factory stock alternator (I think) no idea on its output as it's not labled anywhere. charging a 50 amp battery.

I'd appreciate any suggestions as to what to do.

Cheers

Sounds fine to me. About 14.4v is normal charging.

That voltage sounds fine Bump, as long as it's putting out dc and at a decent amperage it sould be fine.

Cheers for that, I'd just heard that if the voltage crept up to high then it would cook the battery.
