When I put the K&N on my carb I bought a PiperCross oil breather hose filter and fitted it.

Recently the filter has become totally ****ed. The filter its self has seemed to have cracked and think popped off the stainless steel bit off the top of it. Dunno how this happened.

2 questions basically:

1st - What is a good filter to put on this oil breather hose?
2nd - Can I use the same diameter coolant hose in place of the existing flimsy hose, as it tends to flop onto its side and this maybe what is damaging the filter.

Cheers

the small of the two breathers should have a filter as this sucks the excess gaes (or u can block it with a bolt)i wouldnt put a filter on big breather cos smoetimes gunk comes out of it ,sounds like this has happened an it has block the filter
i think the coolant hose should be ok but blow out with air line 1st to get any gunk out

yeh the small breather that goes into the carb i believe is blocked the big breather has the filter on it. But this piperX filter just looked like a whole load of foil strands and didnt seem to give much airflow imo.

the coolant hose i have is brand new and is much more rigid so wont flop or flex like the current one.

Cheers for the info

i have put t40s on mine got told to block small hose with bolt (this pipe sucks )an the the large hose sometimes blows cak out so really i think u should put to a catch tank cos no matter what filter u use if it blows loads offcak into it will block it

thats just my opion i may be wrong

Yeh i see what you mean mate. If im gonna go for a filter id prob go for a K&N breather filter at least its washable.

Gonna have to think about it.

Both hoses let the crankcase breathe, the smaller one is origionally connected to the carb in order to burn-off some of the crankcase gases. The larger one is origionally set up to do the same thing via the air filter, this one can be left to vent to air or connected to a catch tank.

Did you put a hole in the bottle as a vent?
