hi all,
have followed your advice and consulted the haynes manual about fitting a clutch to my 1.2 nova. however, upon actually trying to fit it, there isnt the 36mm plug in the end of the transmission casing. it is a 5speed gearbox, but there isn't any sort of plug or bolt, its just a plate with bolts round the outside holding to the gearbox...
really wanted to get this done today as i need to get rid of the car this week, for my new one.

please help, cheers.

You have to follow the instructions for the five speed box then, Remove the outermost cover from the end of the gear box, You will then be able to see the input shaft. You may lose a little oil from the box, and the gasket will need replacing, some rtv silicone will do.

cheers for the reply, i undid all the bolts that hold that plate on before but was still pretty solid didnt want to force it and break something. in my haynes manual, the 5speed box is described as havin a hex plug, threw me off a bit. i guess all the rest is the same?
cheers

Yep, the rest should be the same, its just the endplate/plug thats different between 4spd and 5spd models.

the ones i've made aren't strong enough...
one problem after another.

They should come with the new Clutch kit, they are usually already fitted to the clutch.

A motorfactors/clutch place should sell them.

right, with the heavy showers, rain keeps stopping play.finally got the ole one out and the new one in... i've tried to line up the groove with the mark on the flywheel, but theres not mark on the flywheel, theres a couple of drill marks in the fly wheel and one on its own which lines up with the groove, is this the one? i'm guessing their for balancing, but may be connected.
stumped otherwise...
