not many small bodyshops will do that sort of work now, so you best prepare yourself for around the ?1000 mark.
why do you need a quarter????

I can't see it being that much...surely?

There's less work involved than welding on an arch repair panel...certainly less filing and blending after the weldings been done.
Unless you mean a whole quarter panel including the section that goes up around the side windows to the roof line?

If it's the section from the window down, I can't see it being a grand or anywhere near that....I'd be very shocked if it was :O

Fitting a rear 1/4 is quite a big job and something u are gonna get charged alot for. It is likely gonna be in a smaller bodyshop as most big bodyshops only deal in insurance work or newer cars where the repair costs are into the thousands. There not interested in a couple or hundred quid for working on an old nova. I've only ever done one, it was a pug 205 and it takes time. If your replacing the whole quarter your talking about removing the window etc. Sorry wouldnt know how much it would cost though. maybe about ?200 - ?300?

?200 to ?300 sounds more like it....that's more like what I'd expect.

As for difficulty....I'll try it and tell you :D
Might have to wait a year though to here and see the results....depends when I get round to doing it, if I do it at all.
I've got a small dent in the panel and some minor rust on the arch...I might not have to replace the whole panel, or any of it to be honest....I'll try pushing out the dent, then filling it first...if that doesn't give a good enough finish, I'll go for a new panel

I paid ?350 to have:
New back panel fitted and sprayed
Boot floor straightened
Rear quater straightened and sprayed
Both doors delocked and sprayed
Roof, scuttle and front pillars sprayed
mondeo spoiler sprayed and fitted
Side skirts resprayed
tailgate with panel already welded in filled, smoothed and sprayed.

I got a few quotes and 1 place wanted ?1500 to do the above.

So if you go to the right place you get the right price!!!!!!!!!!!!

we fitted 17s, lowered, flushed the tailgate, single wiper(OTHER HOLE FILLED AND SMOOTHED), de-locked, new bonnet and hinges, scooby vent, m3 skirts, evo delta bumper(which was a right twat to fit), modified the grill(better than carlton auto motives way of doing it) and a full respray including rust and dents repaired all for a measly ?400 - but would we fuck fit a quarter panel for ?200-?300.

its quicker and cheaper to repair panels rather than replace them.

What's so difficult about it....remove rear bumper and lights, skirts, window and surround then carefully cut off the old panel.
Split spot-welds at window joint.....grind through C pillar and down side of rear lights following the original panel join.
Separate spot-welds on the sill-to-quarter panel join, then grind up through sill and up side of door pillar, then along B-pillar to line up with the bottom of the window.

Line up the new one (trim to fit as required), weld it on, do and bit of grinding, filling and smoothing and jobs done.

10 minute job..lol

Joking aside, I can't see how it can be all that difficult.....one of my mates fully rebuilt his 72 MKIII 'tina by himself in his garage, including new inner wings (front and rear), new rear wing panels, new C-pillar section at one side, new scuttle panel ends, new sections of floor etc (it was a right wreck!).....he's quite skilled in that area mind and it did take a year or two!

im not saying its a difficult job, its just very time consuming and costly in labour.

rich, you forgot to mention all the interior you need to strip aswell, the roof lining and carpets etc.

yeh....very true....I just thought that having welded on new arches on my last Nova, that doing the full panel would be easier than just welding on the repair panel?

I know it was a right pain getting the final finish right......I welded on a section of about 2" all the way round the arch, so obviously the welded seam was right in the middle of the flat curve of the arch, making it difficult to get rid of any undulations in the filler.
I just thought it would be easier to get a good finish doing the full arch as most of the welded seams would be hidden from view (under window rubber, along bottom of sill, behind rear lights/bumper etc) so you wouldn't have to spend ages making those joins look perfect.

I'm just surprised that's all ;)

P.S....I also missed the bit about splitting the spot welds round the arch-to-inner arch joint.
