wotz the difference between a mk 1 bootlid.and a mk2........

i know the mk 1 has just a lock in the midddle........


and the mk 2 has a plastic handle arrangement with the pushbutton lock enclosed

if i woz 2 remove this and flush off the holes ........will this look the same as the mk 1 bott delocked if you know wot i mean.....


or is the number plate recess gonna be bigger on the mk 2 bootlid........



has anyone any photos even 2 show wot i need 2 know

You after a minimalist rear but still with a lock?
You can take all the plastic bits off a mk2 tailgate and fill the holes but you'll have to source a mk1 tailgate lock or customise a door lock.

no i wanna flush all the holes .delocking the boot aswell.....


i just noticed in a thread a few weeks ago that someone had a photo of the plastic grabhandle/lock asembly removed for painting.and for some reason it looked like the whole number plate recess was bigger

maybe it woz just my eyesight.......ha ha

where would i get a photo of a mk 1 bootlid.....and a mk 2 with the plastic handel removed 2 show the holes......and what the difference is so i can compare the 2

the tailgate was completely diiferent, the number plate recess on the early mk1's was much smaller than the mk2's even iff you take the boot handle off it won't look exactly like the earlier tailgate.
