Right - I plan on tuning my XE to over 200bhp, and wondered if anyone could recommend the better carb size to use.

I have always been under the impression that 48mm carbs would be more suited, but someone who has 48's on an XE has just told me;

48's are better for top end speed but struggle up to 2000 revs, but 45's are great from tickover to around 5000 revs. depends on how you drive aswell and the 48's ere a bit heavy on fuel.

(He is swapping to 45's)

The fuel bit doesn't bother me, but I want acceleration performance, not top end speed, so can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks in advance,

Rob.

seen 45's go to 200bhp with no effrot and rev to near 8K..

in all fairness it probably makes very little odds. but 48's cost a lot more.. your call i guess. or call a good RR tuner and talk to them rather than "your mate"

jon nobles at chesterfield im using 45,s on my xe there one of the most common carbs to use on xe,s as they runn well with them and sound nice you just need to get them jetted and set up properly and thats it job done 45,s are good for at least 210/220 bhp and thats a reliable bhp/running estimate also dippends on what your doing to the engine :thumb:very responsive through all the gears 1st to 5th mainly 2nd ,3rd an 4th thow they also rev from 1000rpm and go off the clock so be sure to fit a rev limiter
