Heads are definately different due to inlet port shapes, From what I can gather the blocks do seem the same, however, I dont know if the pistons reach the same height in the bores, if the pistons in the sv sit lower at maximum height the compression ratio might be lower.

SE & SV denotes cr. SE will have higher CR & the head is marked SE, so the head may also be different, port shapes & maybe valve area.

Pistons could be different too, not unusual with Vauxhalls.

Ye, SV has square ports, probably smaller valves than the SE too.

SE has bigger round ports.

Bore and stroke is the about same IIRC.

the S denotes the CR, the las letter denotes what type of fueling.

E = MPI
V = Carb

both engines' CR lie between 9.5:1 and 10.0:1

basically, yes you can use the 1.6sv bottom end, but ensure you transfer the crank sensor across to the other block
