View Full Version : loss of power
Just a quick question i have just bought my girlfriend a 1.2 corsa(i know its not a nova but it was cheap) its a L reg when it starts in the morning it goes like a dream the problem starts when it comes of automatic choke? it feels like the cars power goes off and it struggles when you put your foot down.I have changed the plugs and leads plus dizzy cap and it still feels like the power is not there. Is there any stupid sensors that could be causing this?
Cheers
Andrew.

hmm, souns like it could be a c12nz, Can't remember if they have a lambda probe, as that's one thing that might cause a bit of trouble. But they have no power anyway compared to even a 1 litre nova.

Just consulted my corsa haynes, Could be down to blocked fuel filter or duff plugs, but you've changed the plugs. But runnng fine when cold and crap when warm would usually suggest something to do with the fueling, try changing the fuel filter (don't know how easy this is on corsa's), if it's no better i'd suggest getting it checked over by either a mobile tuner or if you have the money take it to a vauxhall dealer.
Id bet on it being the CTS (coolant temperature sender)
It tells the ecu the temperature of the coolant so it can add extra fuel(for when the engine is cold)
The sensor can become old etc, and start not working properly.
So the ecu doesn't turn the "choke" off, resulting in boggy running/performance etc.
You could try changing it, its about ?6 ish from a motor factors.
Id doubt it being the lambda, i wouldn't think that would effect the engine running so much.
And 1.2SPi engines aren't that bad ;)
Cheers for the advice lads time for a haynes manual and spanners me thinks.
Thank you.:)
