I had some side vents from the rear quarters of a nissan bluebird on the bonnet of my last nova, they were fully functional, as I cut the holes in the bonnet to the same shape as the panel I removed them from. They were turned around 180 degrees to feed air passing over the bonnet straight to the air filter. On the bonnet before that I had metro vents cut and welded in the front corners, Unfortunately I dont have any pics of either bonnet.
A friend of mine has a phase 1 renault 19 16v vent on the front right corner feeding air to the filter on his GSI, again the hole was cut to match the one on the origional car. Doing the vents this way needs some time and patience but imo the results can be stunning.

This is what I did with the metro vents,

Similar to what cool louvres can do, but I had the time, equipment and bits so did it myself.
If I get a new bonnet for my current nova I might do the bluebird vents again, but flushed and smoothed-in.

So you send off your bonnet to Cool Louvres and they stamp those in for you? Looks good. :thumb:

Yeah just packed my bonnet in a huge box and sent it to them, think they also do a service where you drive to them (Southampton) and they'll stamp your bonnet / wings while your there. They also supply ready stamped bonnets.

Dont they have to remove the paint from the area they're stamping as it will only crack anyway?

No they just stamp them with all the paint on, when i got it back they'd just sprayed some primer over the louvres where they'd stamped thru, when i took it to the body shop they had to fill / skim a few areas around the louvres coz there was quiet a few small dents where they'd stamped them.

Function over form, stick one where it'll pull air into the air filter; or run a CAI feed from it to the filter.
