You cant stop it.

The only way to get rid of it, is cut out the rotting metal and replace with new.

but the heat from welding etc just destroys any rust proofing etc further into the structure.

Sounds like you are doing all you can aside from cavity waxing which is best done after any paint work.

Are you having a budget respray over this returning rust??

For that price the last thing id be expecting a "propa" job!!! How does the saying go... If you pay peanuts u'll get monkeys.
Either you've landed on your feet & found one of the cheapest bodyshop in the uk or your car will come out looking like Stevie Wonder has been let loose on it!:wtf:

Without offending thats true.

I budgeted a grand for my respray & wasnt over the moon tbh.

Sounds like a non-oven blow over to me. (cellulose)???

Problem is, depending on where the rust is, you'll need to pay for welding/fitting etc on top of that. So a lot of rust would soon mount up. :)

Make sure you get any rust fixed before painting, cancel the spray job if needed. Rust coming through from underneath will wreck any paintjob.
