standard vauxhall alarm ?

im about to rip out the factory fitted alarm to my sr. but before i wade with the wire cutters thought i'd best make sure that it would start again!!
i've gota toad alarm on there now so want rid of vauxhall fitted wiring and sensors. if i cut through the old alarm will it effect anything??

What alarm is it?
Is it just a basic one, or does it have immobiliser circuits etc?

i dont know when i bought the car it was fitted as standard from vauxhall, but i then had it changed to cat 1 toad fitted by gap security.
