I have just put 2ltr 16v calipers on my nova, but am currently still running the standerd 1.2 master cylinder.
at the moment i have lack of brakes, moslty due to when we went to bleed them for a third time, we found alot of air in the system.
but i wanted to know if any one has put these size brakes on their nova with the 1.2 master cylinder and if they had any problems
i will probably upgrade soon
cheers

I've never had any probs on a 1.2, make sure the bleed nipples on the calipers are pointing up (someone got this wrong a few weeks ago), and check for any leaks. If they still aint right you might need to replace the master cyl, but just another 1.2 jobby will do.
mines on the 1.0 master cylinder and its fine.
Im using the standard 1.2 servo, and mine are fine.
I'd check the calipers the right way up(bleed nipple at the top), and are the retainer springs fitted correctly.

just got in from doing the brakes.
havent been on since i had put the post up so mised the bit about the bleed nipples, i had taken them off another car one by one swaping the braks between mine and the other so didnt realise they where on the wronge way round to start with.
any how i have beld them and they work fine and have put a caviler master cylinder on so dont have the biase valves. mostly so i have the option to fit an ajustable balance valve as the car may be used for night events.
ill remeber the switch them around when i have to change the pads and bleed the next time. dont want to mess with them now i have them working (dont fix ith it ant broke) and at the mo with out any balance valve it works great, the car stops sharply before looking up.

has any one else on here upgraded thier master cylinder without bias valves and how did they find it
thanx for the replys
You should have kept your nova master cylinder, and fitted a nova gte/gsi servo.

You try finding spares for a nova gsi around here. any way i might disconect the master cylinder. all it dose is assit youre braking, and i cant get to grips to the feeal of the pedel with it. have always preferd non assisted brakes as i get for of a feal for them.
plus with the nova master cylinder i wouldnet of had the option of puting my own bias valve in
plus i prefer the way the brakes work now, as the rear breaks do more work than they used to.
The servo assists the braking, master cylinder just pushes the fluid.
You dont want the rear brakes doing more work, thats what will make the rear end lock up and kick out.

i no that will happen if they are doing more work, but at the moment its all fine after taking it out and giving the brakes a good go.
as i said about the servo i dont realy like light pedels, i cant get a feal for whats going on. ill leave it conect for the time being to see if i can get used to it as it is if not then ill try it dissconected.
the first car i owned never had (mk2 1985 polo) a servo or a pressure regulater valve so it dosent bother me
