Hiya...just wondering..when i take them off...will they leave marks as in a brighter red than the rest of my car is?my car has slightly faded,i tryed using t-cut on the boot when i took off the merit and it didnt work..ne suggestions??
thx dean.
when i took mine off the paint underneath came off with em haha, so ur pretty lucky, damn strong glue to stick em on. my mate removed his and them mopped the car and you couldnt tell so u could always try that
you'll need to mop the whole car in G3, preferably with a DA shod with a polishing pad to bring the paint back to original condition.
Either that or get a high powered UV light and fade the bright bits lol

dude , the man Bottleroddy is spot on . These things are murder to remove ...if you do it use a heat gun or hairdryer ( a hot day will certainly help) heat the strip and peel it off.....it may pull some paint off due to impacts ( bloody shopping trolleys and such ) and then leave a sticky gum behind .The gum is nuke proof , so it,ll take some rubbing with either white spirit or auto glymns tar remover ...Be prepared for touching up the paintwork underneath..
G3 cutting compound is brilliant to restore paintwork....I invested in a proper polisher / sander that has variable speed and a no stop ( when pressure applied ) motor...its a labourous job but worth it. After cutting the whole car I washed n waxed it , then used a top shine protector...all from Auto Glymn products to which I recommend.
Good luck.

Hey i removed my strips, and i got a faded red nova and it did leave brighter red marks and also left the glue to the car lol. but after a while u cant really notice the colour cause it will blend in. But im having trouble trying to get off the remainder of the glue, any1 got any ideas???

white spirit, tar & glue remover and nail varnish remover are all worth a try but it will take some work.
What year Nova is it ? some of the earlier models (up to 86 ?) the side strips are actually riveted on ! you end up with little rivets / studs left up your doors & 1/4s which you've gotta grind off then skim & paint !

Get a fudge wheel from a paint shop and stick it in an electric drill! Awesome bits of kit, and very little elbow grease required!
my old man used a strong liquid in his bodyshop to get the glue off of mine, but it took the paint off with it as it was that strong. so then we just used stanley knive blades. that worked well good and didnt take any paint off!
i remember taking the side strips off, we used hot water and a hair dryer. the hair dryer came in handy to warm our hands back up as it was winter when we did it.

I pondered the same question too Deano_17. Yours look alright with 'em on, but would probably look smoother/cleaner with them off. :thumb:
