cross member? do you mean slam pannel?
not the slam pannel lol. the bulkhead pannel ;) saves a little weight and improves airflow to the carbs/tb's etc.

I take it you havent seen an engine bay thats peeled itself apart at the seams then?
The kits are designed to keep the rally cars in one peice & be more rigid. Can only help matters. The shell was originally designed with a 1.3 as the biggest engine. It was beefed up a bit for the 1.6.
Think; a 2.0 Astra GTE needed to be strengthened further for when the twin cam XE was to be fitted. Only an extra 20bhp .......!

is that all filler on the inner wings?!
shy witness

them smoothed inner wings look fantastic.........really nice
just wondering where uz relocate the expansion tank too in this instance
also i see a terrible lot of filler involved.....is this a good thing as filler can crack......especially with a bit of anyway hard driving on the roads
is that all filler on the inner wings?!
the bayd fully plated, then skimed over,so its all fully smoothed,

nope, never seen one, have a friend thats used his nova for 3yrs with the xe and going track days, with no welding, and theres no cracks or anything...yeah i always say weld everyseam right up,but the plating dont seam worth it anless you'll be rallying it or track daying it all the time, when i built mine,i welded it myself..my welding wasnt great!and it was ok for 2yrs hard use eveeryday, yes now its all fully welded and plated for the smoothing so its extra strong, but i've seen the hh kits(or what i beileve was one) and thery dont look anything strong, its the same thicknes as the plate we use at work to weld up sills and crap like that....(sorry long rant)

my headder tank is in the scuttle pannel, alot with a few other things, and no there isnt a lot of filler in there,it was platewelded, till smooth as poss, black fiberglassed, then skimmed with filler,
