basicly, what is involved? i.e will the block atach straight onto the existing mounts or is modifying in order. also what will have to be done about drive shafts? would it be possible to use my existing nova ones? will i have to change my fuel tank? currently running 1300 sr. carb. would i be able to use my nova gear box. is there anything else i havnt asked that i will need to know before i get stuck in??? thanks for any feed back. appreciated.

Why do you want to fit that engine?
They are about the same power as your 1300Sr engine.

trust me, from experiance, if you can, avoid doing an engine conversion, i had a new engine dropped into my corsa at the end of january, my car is still dead on my drive way, and having to rely on lifts from people to get me around, it would be better/easier/cheaper/more reliable to buy a car with this engine already in it, if you want a 1.6, buy a gte or gsi!

thats not true at all an engine conversion is easy if you know what your doing ive had engines in and out and running again in a day

Massive waste of time.
the 1.6 cav enginr is a big block, and would take as much effort as a 2L 16v.

Also it will be slower than your 1.3

my mate is think of putting this engine in his corsa 1.2, is this a waste of time? what engine would be best to put in this with little effort?

what about the cavvy 1.4 surely that cant be big block aswell

the easiest conversion is that which is the same size block if you dont want to be messing around with engine mounts and driveshafts (small block or large block) and uses the same fueling (either spi, mpi or carb) unless youre going for twin 40s or TBs!

I wouldnt bother with a cav 1400 engine anyway, look at the weight of the cav its been pulling around for years, gotta be knakered unless its real low milage

Do they exist?
I've never seen a 1.4 cavalier.

yes cav 1.4s exist its the 14nv motor (1400 sr), and there are big and small block 1.6's they have a small 2 for family 2 at the end of the engine code

Mk2 cav 1.6's were big-block iirc.

Meh, i only mean mk3 cavs Lol.
How many mk2 cavs do you see about, not many, so i assumed he meant Mk3. :thumb:

Ye, mk2 1.6 cavs were big block as thats what CV you use for a big block conversion.

i meant mk3, the 2 (in the code) reads as: c16nz2 for family 2. iirc the carb 16 is a small block, basically a gte motor with a carb and hei (high energy ignition) system, instead of injection, hope this helps,

I've never seen a 2 at the end of an engine code?

or the simple way is to look at the rocker cover size,
