Hey all, using 10w40 mineral at the mo on my mk1 (1988) 1.3L

just ondered if anyone had any better suggestions? What does everone else use?

10/40w Gm semi synth.

The 10/40w and 15/40w mineral oils are fine for your engine. If you start using less viscous oil like 5/40w and 0/40w's in an old engine you will get better engine efficiency & performance but it wont protect the old engine as well as the thicker oil you have at the moment.

Idd stick with 10/40w miineral oil should be fine.

We were using Vauxhall 15w40 mineral oil in our 1990 1.2. We switched to "GTX for high mileage/older engines(or some such phrase)", and it burns less (valve seals need changing from what i'm told), and it seems to run a bit smoother now.

I use the GM 10W40 semi, runs fine
Just change it every 4000 miles if you give your car a regular thrashing
