what the best way of changing the cam on a 8v? can i just slacken the head rocker box off?

No.
If you slacken the headbolts, you will need new headgasjet, new headbolts, drain the coolant etc etc.

Get a rocker removal tool, it allows you to change the cam without undoing the headbolts.

Or they are ?9 on ebay.
Its well worth buying one, so you have it then incase you need it again.
I've got one, but i lent it out a while back, and am still waiting its return lol

I presume you mean ?9 per valve? Could you please give me the guys user name on ebay, as a set of them would be great. Cheers mate
