Does anyone have an idea of how much it would cost to replace the rings on a 1300? I rebuilt the top-end at christmas so I'm a little knarked that it's decided to use two litres of oil every 500 miles! Didn't stop it hitting 85bhp on the rollers though!
Is it definently burning the oil, and not just leaking?

It's definately burning it, most noticable under hard acceleration, and it idle's all over the place unless it's warmed up. It never used any oil before the top-end was changed (head was skimmed, all gaskets/seals replaced), only visible leak is a wet sump gasket, hasn't got any wetter in the past year though.
Smoke on hard acceleration is the Rings yeah assuming its blue smoke.
Im not sure how much a new set is, think its around the ?50 mark.

I changed the rings on mine took a Day it was burning 2 litres of oil per tank of petrol, I got the rings from a local car shop for ?50 1000 miles of running in later and all is fine no smoke and no oil burning,
If you can do it yourself it will cost you much less be sure to deglaze the bores, and get a ring compressor to get the pistons back in.
Also make sure you clean out the grooves on the pistons that the rings go in, else you might have trouble trying to get the piston back in.
