hello, has anybody put a 1.6/1.8 spi engine from a cav in to a 1.4 or any spi nova?
just wondering if i could use the same loom for the 1.4 for the bigger cav engines?
cheers :thumb:

The 1.8 cav engine is big block, so as much work to fit as a XE.

And the 1.6SPi engine is about 70bhp, and not worth fitting.

But yes, the 1.4 loom should plug in and work fine as they have the same management.

cheeres fella, so the 1.8 spi would require a different loom?
im building my second nova, would a carbed engine be easyer? fancy something in carbs

If you want something on T40s, then a 1400 engine with a c14se head, or a 1600 gte/gsi engine is the best way.

The loom should work with both the spi engines, i was just saying theres no point welding the bay, getting different CVs etc etc just to get 90bhp from from a 1.8spi.
Might as well stick a 1400Sr or GTe engine in.

the 1.8 is utter **** when compared to other engines you can fit for the same trouble.

cool, so what would would u recomend?
1.6 t40's or a 1.4 sr? ive got a 1.8 sri lump, but i dont think i'll be good with the loom, welding/strengthening is no probs, my mate welds and the shell has a bit to be done anyways.

1400 on 40s keeps cheap tax and cheaper insurance than 1600.
But 1600 gives more power, upto about 150bhp depending how much you want to spend on engine work.
