My first car/nova, bought it back in November for ?180 with 60k on the clock no mot or tax. Firstly i put it in for its MOT to see what problems it had. Luckily it only failed on minor problems like brake imbalance, rear number plate light etc. The first steps were to remove the minor rust on the usual places, like bottoms of doors, rear arches etc. Though this was more serious than i had first thought so ended up welding two new arches in. Eventually after a while the cars body and underbody was mint no rust, perfect lines etc.

Now i have fitted a GTE front bumper (smoothed the lines and fitted a laguna splitter), GTE rear bumper (smoothed), GTE wrap around spoiler and GTE sideskirts. After alot of sanding, the bumpers were ready to be painted satin black.

I uprated my suspension with some new spax dampers and 60mm lowering springs (can't afford coilovers). Brakes were an issue with its MOT so i decided on replacing the front discs and calipers with some vectra 2.0ltr vented discs and calipers. The next decision was the wheels but it became obvious some cav gsi rims. I bought some new tyres yokohoma 195/15/15 which sat nicely under my arches and sprayed the rims satin black.

With some extra improvements like clear front indicators, smoked rear lights, smoked side repeaters, flushed tailgate with boot release kit the car is coming together and is looking half decent from the outside. I have now a dilemma. With the vasts amount of fiberglass, new arches and flushed tailgate it all needs to be painted. The faded blue comes up nicely with some t-cut though matching it might still be quite hard with much of the original gloss disapeared. Is it worth a respray in metallic black, i have been quoted ?800.

Being only 16 atm a new engine is off the cards due to insurance.
Pics will be up soon.
Thanks for looking. :)

i was thinking of making it look half decent for another MOT and see from there if overall car is worth the money of a respray.

just remember with metallic black your fillering and smoothing really has gota be perfect as black shows up everything.

If you can afford to get the respray done profesionnaly, every pic I've seen where the plastics are the same finish as the car has looked awesome, so I'd go for that.

Looks good so far :)
