Idle Problems - Need help!

Hi guys

I'm having problems with the idle on my 1.3SR engine. I've recently put the engine into my 1.2L along with a few other mods such as AST2 cam, Janspeed 4-2-1 exhaust manifold and a mongoose exhaust system. Although I'm thinking that the problem is most probably with my new 32/34 weber carb although I could be wrong.

The engine only seems to be able to idle comfortably at 1250 RPM, any lower than that and it becomes really lumpy, drops to about 700 RPM then dies. I have tried setting mixture and idle speeds in various positons and have tried a number of different jet sizes but there has been no difference at all.

I have also fitted a recon dizzy from Delco as the old one was looking pretty shaged but in the end made little difference.

Any suggestions welcome.

it might just need a good tune take it to a rr but then again that cam is very lairy might be a bit too much for that little carb. maybe invest in some t40s. mine just about idles when its warmed up. and theres no chance when shes just started up

I had a feeling you might say rolling road but my problem there is that I have no MOT to drive it there (Closest RR to me is over an hours drive down the M4). I've got a feeling that I may not get through the MOT on emissions if I'm idleing at 1250 - 1500 RPM.

I think I might pop the standard cam back in and see how she runs before I think about investing in T40s

There is one opening up in Cardiff near my office very soon but they say they specialise in Jap super cars, not sure if they would be to good setting up a carb.

yeah i had trouble getting mine set up a lot of places dont do carbs anymore including courtney sport. luckily i spoke to jim and he told me of this guy who is the bollox well close to me aswell going 2mora infact
