Are kart seats legal in a road car?

I don't see any reason why not but as a kart racer I wouldn't recomend it. They are designed to hold you tight in position and your movement in the seat would be very restriceted.

Do you reckon I might need to cut a bit out the left for changing then?

Its just they are so light and cheap and Nova seats are so heavy!

They will be perfectly fine - not comfy. Jus make sure all mounts are secure and the there is no significant movement in the seat for the MoT.
TBH you might as well put in some bucket seats in unless ur after a bad back.
You wont notice a significant difference in changing the nova seats anyway.

erm you'd have to fit lots of support (a space frame) round the car to hold the seat in securely (think of how the seat is fitted to a kart)

it will offer NO neck support should you bin it too. basically its quite dangerous for a road car imo.
You can get buckets quite cheap these days. i mean i got my 5 slot seat for ?90 inc delivery which isnt bad and there are cheaper seats about etc

Bad back aint a problem, I'm a chiropractic student and get free treatment.

You're right stu i'll have to see how much it flexes.

?90 is good but my first kart seat goes high up the back (still no headrest) and was ?26

Prob just till I get buckets really.

Harness will be cheap too. Bought a 5point buckle for ?5 and will get the sraps from old belts and bolt to rear brace and floor.

If you're a chiro student you'll know how important it is to support your back and head rests are there for a reason.
I wouldnt do it - it'll make the inside of the car really bare without the padded seats.

Yeah what do you think. I havn't quite finished yet (especially as I have had a prang) I'll be adding a Volvo 360 spoiler, home made side skirts (bloody five door!), nova sport front dam and massive mudflaps. Here is an artists impression:

Ummm, well, err I suppose the kart seats wont look out of place in there I guess.
Nice I idea on the alloys, I did the same to the 17"s on my Astra.

Yeah I prob will one day soon but being on a budget and an empoverished student I wanna get other things
first like head/cam mod etc as fibreglass seats don't really depreciate in value too much and I can sell em again.
