I have red nove which seems to think that it should be pink!
How do I solve this problem with out resorting to a respray?
I wax&T-cut it every two months but it does last a takes a day or two, to do proper job!
I've heard of mopping the paint for a colour match when pannel replacing etc, wot is this and how/where do i have it done.
:-/

How long have you been T-cutting it every two months for?!?

Using T-cut too often can damage the paint!

I'd personally try rubbing down with rubbing compound, then use a good quality polish (I use this stuff called Devlon...worked mint when polishing up my re-spray) to get a really nice shine.

If there's enough paint on the car, you could even try sanding it first with "very" fine wet and dry, BUT, if you sand through to the primer, don't blame me :O

It depends just how bad it is though.....I've seen a very pale pink Nova polished up to be as good as new, using only Devlon polish and a polishing ball attached to a drill.

Since it's pink instead if red, then it's obviously quite bad, but may be retrievable with resorting to a re-spray.

G3 rubbing compound

Autoglym resin polish afterwards

doh.....above I meant to say:

"Since it's pink instead if red, then it's obviously quite bad, but may be retrievable "without" resorting to a re-spray."

my brothers red nova was pink and we tried and tried to bring the paint back.
all we managed to do is make it shiney pink, and we were both car valleters.
vuaxhall reds can be very bad for staying pink, wheres the ford reds can be just about whitey/pink and a good tcut will bring them back like new.

u might think u have done a good job and brought the colour back, but i bet if u ever had to have sumthing painted on the car like bodykit or sumthing, it would stand out a lot.

if u are planing body mods then do them now and get them all out the way while u save for a spray job, the car will look a lot better for it in the long run

Both my red novas are the same and you will never get them back to red, i used all sorts of thing on my SRI to get it back to red and gave up in the end and had it resprayed and laqured and it never faded at all in the 12 months since. I aint even gonna bother trying on my GSI and am gonna book it in to be resprayed. Rick

They say "good things come to those who wait" and me and John have waited longer than most!

a lad at my work has a red corsa 1700d it was bag of shit, its only p reg and the flame red paint was startin to turn pink. on the way home last week some muppet went through a red light and bumped his front end. now the whole car is shiney flame red. the whole car had to be resprayed. the same happened to my mates golf about a year ago to. all you have to do is drive around like you did on your driving test and someone is bound to rub into you at some point cos youll be drivin like an old bloke and everyone else wont be payin attention. then youll get a nice FREE respray, (and if the accident group turn up youll get a bit of modding money from your WHIPLASH claim ;))

well thats my 2p on the matter :p

lol@sy I wanted something like that to happen to me when I got my driver's door smashed, but the cops never found the dick.....I would have loved a free re-spray!

BTW....my Antibes is Carmine red, but, it's not gone pink at all....instead, it's a more orangey shade!

It's an 87 E-reg but I know that the paint shade never changed with age, 'cos there's a C reg one near me that is carmine red, and it's pink in places.
I though that maybe mine wasn't Carmine red at all, and that it was maybe a different shade being an Antibes (maybe they painted 'em a unique shade of red??), but the colour code is correct to be carmine red, and I'm 100% sure that it's the original paint and it's the same where ever you look (including under carpets, in boot, behind window rubber etc etc.)

My GSi faded to pink, and the rear bumper to orange. I used T-Cut first on car, didn't work.
Then I tried G3 compound and Autoglym polish, wend a darker shiny pink.

So I booked it in for a respray.

Weird Sid...maybe there is two slight different Reds then...one that goes to pink and one that goes to orange, but wouldn't your GSi be the newer "Flame Red" anyway?
