right, i've got everything i need to colour code my wing mirrors, boot grab handle and door handles...
the thing is, i know it's best to wait for a sunny day to do this, but i don't think one of them will be happening for a while now and i dont want to wait. what could i do then? should i get a big heater in my garage and get it really warm in there then spray them?
the thing is my borther sprayed one of his wing mirrors on a dry day and it looked perfect when he'd just sprayed it, but he came back to it a couple of hours later and it had gone pink (he'd sprayed it flame red!)...
so what should i do lads? any methods/tips that u could give me?
Cheers
Ged

You shouldnt have to wait for a nice day (may be waiting beards n e way!!) . I'd try the heater in garage ting.

just take your time over it bud, I sprayed my bonnet vent myself and it came up looking really good. When I did my mirrors on my old SR I used that plasticote stuff, it is like a spray on plastic, admittedly it was easy for me as they were white, but it still looked really good. Also if you are going to put a laquer on it, then again use the plasticote stuff, it made mine really shiny and hard wearing.
Garages sticking to their promises???? not likely!!! :(

Ged. I did exactly that. I bought my Gsi spoiler 2nd hand, it was metallic black. I prepped it and resprayed it glacier white in my girlfriends dads garage. I had 1 fluorescent strip light and one of those portable calor gas fires. I did it last january so it was cold out, but get the fire on in the garage and it gets to a nice working temp'.
I worked on it over several nights sanding and spraying, sanding and spraying etc. Just did a couple of hours each night, which because of the fire allowed the paint to set fast and hard, i could get several coats done per night. Trust me it works a treat, u just neeed a lot of patience, a bucket of warm water and shit loads of wet and dry :D

yeah get a heater and also get a heat gun to "bake" the paint once u have painted it.
this will help it dry fast enough so the water in the air wont make it go horrible

The thing to remember is plenty of light coats instead of trying to cover the thing in a thick coat. Spray and san, spray and sand. I did my boot grab handle over the space of a week in november 2 yeas ago. It's only just started to flake at the edges, but only because I didn't apply as many coats as I wanted. I was spraying it in an open garage, no heater or anything and it came out really well. Be patient and it'll all look really good.

I've sprayed both sides on my car in the last couple of months....in fact, I did all of one side in one day, including masking off, spraying, sanding spraying, sanding, rubbing (with rubbing compound) and polishing....all in ONE day. Of course, the prep work took a while before hand!
At this time of year, painting outside is a no no as the damp in the atmosphere makes the paint go cloudy......red to pink for example. The paint oxidises basically....look at old red Novas.....most are dull pink instead of nice deep red.
The heated garage is the best route, but make sure you don't spray near the fire :O and make sure you still get plenty of ventilation.
It can be a major risk if you're not careful.....too much spray vapour in the air combined with the heater and bang you go!
Just use common sense.

ged make sure there is no drafts while the paint is drying this will cause it to bloom(white patches) also for ednovasr the bits are airborn particles you should wet the floor and anything that will hold dust the best time for spraying is on a damp day but in a warm area to get rid of the bits use g3 rubbing compound or if really bad use 1000 wet an dry then work up to 1500 followed by a good polish it will come out ok
