Been thinking bout this 4 a while and ive decided to go 4 it! I want to smooth my tailgate on my Gte but I want to keep the vinyl/plastic look on the back, if i get hold ov sum from a graphics shop i wont need to paint the part ive filled as the vinyl will cover this! Has any body sucssesfully dunt this or seen it dun, how easy is it to replace that vinyl/plastic. Any tips 4 when filling would be gratefull too!

wayhay is this another mod that hasnt been done b4???
i think it would look mint :D
any graphics place will be able to replace the vinal for you and they wont arse it up (saves u doing it)
i bet the cost ov aplying the vinal is a lot cheaper then getting the tailgate painted

yeah thought i hadn't seen one dun like that i want the vinyl to look really good though like original stuff, my m8 knows a lad who does the graphics on colin mcrae's car he's just finished malcolm wilsons helicopter so if it's good enough for Mcrae then it's good enough 4 me!! Meeting the lad on monday night about filling my boot job will probably cost no more than ?20 and a couple ov cans ov stella! Ill post sum pics when finished. Cheers

I've seen it done I'm afraid.....just shows how hard it is to find something new to do to a Nova :(
The good thing though mate, is that it does look mint!
Ages ago, I mocked it up on my PC using a modded photo done in PaintShop Pro, and I really liked it...I though...hum, that's not been done, then some local lad went a did it!
Instead of vinyl though, you could always paint it.....I did my tailgate on my first Nova using Vauxhall Anthracite.
Here's a pic: http://www.novabug.co.uk/FeatureCars/AReg6.jpg It looked mint apart from having a dint below the rear wiper.
(BTW....have peeps ever noticed that the oldest Novas had the wiper on the other side of the tailgate? The one in the pic...my first Nova...was an A-reg)

i noticed that! how wierd is it...i remember looking at a purple wide arch nova in maxy p and thinking "that wipers on the wrong side...oh, they must have fipped the image over for design reasons...they can't have, that writing is the right way round?!?!"
lol

Yeah that paint dont look too bad but it's all sorted now, should be finished within a fortnight, fairly gutted that it's been dun be4ore though m8! oh well never mind. Any one got any mad ideas bout a rear bumper then, cause it'll look awful with a plate just bolted on to my gte bumper.

cut a recess into the bumper is the only way. just bolting it on isnt summat u can get away with on novas i dont reckon
B-) Streakers beware: Your end is in sight B-)

it'll be a temporary solution cos ive found the ideal bumper and it will have definately not have been dun be4ore, just gotta get the thing to fit, and ill have to wait and see wat powerflow say bout gettin a double zorst first cos it wont fit with the exhaust in it's original place, (it's all good fun)
