im thinkin of doin a diy retrim on my nova. im gonna start front door cards. has anyone done this before either by doin existing ones or by makin new ones. any help or advice would be great.

also how easy is it to change a roof lining to a late spec one (i think the later ones were fabric)

Ive just made new ones and it is quite easy. All you need to do is cut some door cards out of some mdf about the same thickness as the old ones (they need to be the same thickness cos you will use those black push studs that already hold the card to the door. Go and buy some fabric (I used curtain fabric as its cheap and easy to find). Dont pad out the fabric as it looks crap, you just put the fabric directly onto the wood. Look at how the old door card's material was stuck to it and try to copy this as best you can. If the material is built up alot on the back of the card then it wont stay on the door. Use copydex to stick the material on with. Do not put copydex on the whole door card, only the flaps that go round the back cos it can seep through. The little black press studs should transplant directly from the old cards to your new ones if you make the holes for them the right size. You cant go wrong if you just make them as close to the old ones as possible.

The main prob I found was making a new handle for the door as you have to get the spacing of the screws right so you can use the old handle holes. Two ways of getting round this 1:make new ones yourself. 2:use the shitbag handles out of a cav (apparantly they fit)

I say its easy but I havent actually finished mine yet but not far to go.

If you come across any major probs mail me and I will try to help.

go for carbon fibre ones mate!! they look amazing. I think it is martin that comes to the png meets that has them and then look really stylish! although they will be expensive though! :(

Garages sticking to their promises???? not likely!!! :(
