I rang around a few companies today to find out how much it costs to delock my nova and to respray a spoiler from red to blue and how much fitting would be on top.
I was quoted ?300 for delocking the side doors, and about ?150 for changing the colour of the spoiler and fitting it. Are these prices normal or are these rip off's? I had no idea it was going to cost this much to do. Could I do either of these my self? Are they simple? I was told that fitting the spoiler would take 4 hours alone + the time to spray it.

OI was quoted just 40 squid t ohave my doors delocked, that was with a plate welded in the door. He had only sprayed the car a week earlier, and is just going to do the area where the locks were.

delocking is easy enough.
weld a plate inside the door covering the hole where the lock barrel goes through.
fill and smooth on the outside and then spray it over.
of course i have not done it myself but feel confident i could if i had to.

exactly as wisewood says, but it is a little tricky if you can't weld or spray. I did mine myself and its not difficult. The spoiler is easy also, just spray it yourself and fit it yourself, it shouldn't tkae 4 hours !!!! what the hell kind of a spoiler is it. My spoiler took about 15 mins to fit and its a mondeo spoiler blended into an sr one.

Thanks lads. Given that I am not willing to shell out all the money that I was quoted. I am going to give it a go on my test car (my girlfriends):D before I start cutting holes and spraying mine.
The spoiler I wanted to fit was a standard one from a GSi.
Anything special I should buy/avoid or watch out for? Any difficult parts?

just buy what you think for the test - if it looks pants or dunt work its only the missus's car innit.
then come on here and tell us what you got and what happened and then we can all laugh, err i mean help.

Decided that it may be best to take the car to a garage to get the welding done. It's due to go in on Friday and will cost me ?15!! It would have cost me more than this to get the stuff I needed anyway. I will start mucking around with the spraying on saturday if I have some time.

Car is now delocked. Mechanic delocked and sprayed both doors for ?45. The finish on the doors are so good I don't have to muck around with spraying it my self. Slightly less than the ?300 I was quoted from the body shop. Only thing left to do now is the spoiler which I will have a go at my self.
