195/50/15s

I am thinking about getting some 195/50/15 Toyo R888's to put on my xe nova for the track. I now have ET49 15x6J compomotive mo's which have this tyre size on but it was very close to the front coilover (spax rsx kit). Just wanting to make sure they dont rub at all before I order some as I cant check as im in the middle of the north sea and car wasnt on the road before I had to go offshore.

Should be but I havnt had the car on the road to check, wheels were bolted on and car hasnt moved since

I've just fitted some on my car using a 6.5J ET49 wheel - I had to use 5mm (3mm probably would have done) spacers to get them to clear the rear AVO coilovers. I would have needed the spacer for the fronts as well. Since you have a 6J wheel they may fit a little easier, but be prepared to fit spacers.

Just for info I had the same size tyres fitted to mine on a 5.5J wheel and had loads of space to play with (without spacers). I also have a set of 16" wheels that are 7J that also fit without spacers (Very tight though 195/45R16) all ET49, so the R888's on the 6.5J wheels where the fiddliest to make fit.

also if the tyre is "only" catching on the spring at the front you can get shorter springs to move the base up and clear the tyre while keeping the same ride height..

bought the car with an xe fitted but since then I have had the engine out, seam welded it all and fitted a different xe engine.
