ha ha i have one of those engines but in an ASTRA ESTATE its lovelylol
it had done star trek miles so prob got nothing in comparison to yoer engine but it has got some grunt so i bet it would fly in a nova! cant you turn up the boost or something?

Give it some rev

can you post some pics please, iv never seen a 1.7td convesion before. sounds like a laugh in a nova lol

Sounds cool.
IIRC someone i while back had a 1.7Td nova with about 120bhp.

Get In!
Like everyone else Im looking forward to seeing some pics. :thumb:
Got the same Isuzu TD lump in my estate and the 1.5 Isuzu TD in my nova - both go so well but I really am interested in putting a 1.7TD in my Nova.
The 1.5TD is good enough for taking on SR's and alike but wud be great to have the extra oompf like you do. (Ive not cranked up the boost yet) Havent found out how to yet.

I also remember someone getting good power out of one of these, think it must be about 5 years ago now? Made the volume of messages coming through on novaowners quite interesting.

IIRC
It was a purple nova with an intercooler etc, dunno whos it was tho.

I think Burgo's planning quite a few mods to a 1.7td engine and putting that in his td nova.

i thought about doin this conversion a few years back when i had my well modded nova saloon...........and i could of got and astra 1.7 td 4 150 quid

deffinatly would have been a decent upgrade from a 1.0 ha ha

although i got the car stolen....and never ever seen it again:mad:

so it hardly matters now

wot sort of works involved i wonder???

Wow she looks nice, Its almost look at my car. Had my 1.5 TD lowered and had the Calibra alloys :D 1 thing mine aspires to is to has the 1.7 lump.
I still do envy you with the 1.7TD though. Only thing I was wondering did they get the intercooler to sit right with the rad?

meh cheap to run and handles better than a nova as std... nevermind gotta love narrowminded car forums lol.

Oh I agree there are better cars out there that the Nova but Ive had some crummy french cars. My Gfriends parents have jus bought a new 206 GTi 180 Nice & sporty, but thats been back at the dealers more times than they've had it. Best car I've probably had was a '94 C-class Merc, not british or even a Vauxhall.

My sister's GTi 180 has been back to the dealer a couple times as well.

Had a drive of it a few times, ergh... its like a whale on a tightrope round corners and not all that fast either tbh.

The 180 does hava a nice leather interior n buckets, bout one of the few good points, Jap cars rule for reliablity I must admit.

Biggest thing with one of these is: Valve clearances.

They are set by shims and hardly ever get touched. So if it don't start too well or lacks ooomph then get 'em checked. Not unheard of for they not to be checked for over 100 000!

Shims are still availiable. And are fun to do as anyone thats ever done them will know!

i had a bit of a race against one some suited bloke prob early twentys was sitting up my **** at the roundabout so i left him down the slip road of the a 14 i slowed up as my turning was coming and he booted it past to me slammed the anchors on and pulled infront of me and thankfully went on to the m11 where i was going so i again dusted him hard out the sliproad and let off about 100 waited for him let him catch up and popped back down into fourth and left him which i was suprised at i let off at 120 and drove more sensibly and he slowed up as he came past me and i just laughed at him. thinking he was all special in his peugot two-oh-****. tosser!

I'm guessing your nova isn't an SRi as your name suggests then lol

Give it some rev

thats what i was thinking. anyway, its a shame how the weight has got the better of 'hot hatches', i mean 180 ponies in a Nova would be enough to make it fly, let alone drive. they just dont make them like they used to!!

womble sri
02-03-06, 09:21 PM
no its an sr! but its not standard

Jack
02-03-06, 09:26 PM
He can't have been trying that hard then! I used my sisters 180 to hammer my mate's GTi-6... lol

womble sri
02-03-06, 09:29 PM
no he was cos he booted it as we came onto the m11 but i want sailing past i thinh they do a lower power one as well so it was probably one of them because i wouldnt of thought my 1.4 would have any sort of chance with something like that

head is now gone on the 1.7td im puting a 1.5td engine with only 47,000 miles in :)

orange_andy
08-03-06, 03:27 PM
i agree with them not trying i got an sr, i had it showing over 120 of the clocks, quite a fast car, my mates got the 206 145gti and when i was going down the motorway when he dropped it he shot off compared to me, no way i could of done him, never mind the 180

orange_andy
08-03-06, 03:31 PM
i agree with the weight thing, but not many people would by a 180bhp car with hardly any safety no nice things like leather interior nice heavy pas lecci everywhere really. most people who can afford a powerful sports car, NEVER EVEN USE IT, i think its a shame when you see people driving cars from gti's to 3litre M3's an you just know they have never gone over 1500rpm ever,

A guy in a 206 GTi overtook me going into a 60 zone once.

I thought about nailing him, then i decided not to be a c0ck and carried on at my own sensible pace.

After reading about how good 1.7td engines are i think i might take mine to pieces as it is slow and struggles at beating my mates 1200cc corsa.
