Automatic chokes are crap (allegedly) there must be something wrong if you have to sit with your foot on the pedal for ten minutes:(

takes me ages to get it warm enough so that itll run smoothly. my old 1.2 carb nova used to take aslong too

nath is it a 1.2 now ?

if it is get yourself a 1.3 inlet and carb and fit that , you will also need the accelerator cable and prob all the water pipes to the 1.3 carb

once fitted use the black and yellow wire that is tapped up near the starter - this plugs into the front of the 1.3 carb for the auto choke :thumb:

A friend had a VW Jetta with an auto choke and it was gash, stick with the manual, and have it looked at. My 1.2 merit needs a bit of choke for getting going and when i stop for roundabouts its best to keep it out halfway. Its an old car and I gotta put up with some annoying little things!!

Ye, stick with the manual choke, less hassel as you can control it.

Or do as Riggy said and fit a SR carb and inlet on, for auto choke and a twin choke carb.

i got that problem with my sr, the colder it is the harder to start, make sure you got the standard filter on makes a HUGGEEEEEE difference,

yep its a 1.2 with standered filter and carb on. its not a problem but just thought itd be easier with a auto choke. as for having to have the choke out when im driving i dont do that. once the cars got upto the first mark on the digi dash the choke goes in and it runs perfect. i kow the timing etc is set perfect as i only had it done last week.

cheers guys!

the dash is easy enough to fit aslong as you follow the wiring instructions.

Nope/\
It doesn't fit in a mk1 dash without modding it.
