There's two different designs of MKI SR bumpers...pre face lift, and post face-lift.
The MKII was later on. If it's after 87, it'll be a face-lift MKI. (big grab-handle on tailgate).

What's to know...the two bumpers look totally different...the old ones the one with the grill build in.

In know what you mean about the hole in the bumper by the way.....just having a hole through the thin plastic could look dodgy......may be better to try and make a surround for it so that the mesh/grill is set back a bit.

Oh, and yes...I do feel like a bit of an anorak at times :D

yeah thats right, the first is a clip/bolt on valance to the mk1 1 piece bumper and grille, and the other one is a seperate big chunky bumper like gte,n grille like gte,I have a tatty mk1 valance kicking round,as this came on my 1.2 when I got it,attached to the same bumper rich dale has,and with my "rare" grille, they are miles different these bumpers!

I want some 15"s!

the hooj thing that fits to the bottom valance?-I thought it died on late D-regs?-my nova has a "gte-spec bumper" fitted, which is what I call the gte/SR front bumper,I refer to the older one as a front skirt or valance, plus older SRs and novas had horrid back bumpers too...plus gtes got a rear flick which simply screws into later spec mk1 rear bumpers

I want some 15"s!

Dave....you never said what reg your car is, that's why I asked which bumper it was ;)

Bob...my back bumper is one of those "horrid" back bumpers....the only difference is the lack of the grove around the bottom edge. When you fit the GTE "flick", it slots into this grove (as you'll know)...well, my bumper hasn't got the grove so the GTE flick sits a little further out. Also, I can move it lower down the bumper if I want (using some sort of spacers), without leaving the grove visible. I was thinking of doing this to make the back look even lower.

Why did you call it a huge thing? It's only the same size as the later SR bumper :p
BTW....I use the old style lower valance, but with a normal nova top section, so I can use a separate grill, and I love how it looks.
Also, 'cos the lower edge is flat (unlike the SR/GTE bumper which goes up in the middle), I can fit any splitter I want with ease :)
