Wasnt sure whether to put this in styling or insurance.

If i get a full respray, does anyone know how much it will effect my insurance? I was told the hike in insurance would be less if I spray it another standard nova colour. :wtf:

If i send the v5 away saying the colour is changed, they will update there records... will it say 'this car has been resprayed' or 'paint not original' if not how will the insurance people know it has been changed?

was thinking about a silver or dark blue. or a dark red, by car is burgandy at the moment, i was thinking about getting it sprayed a different shade of burgandy and not saying it was sprayed.

V5 will just show the new colour, the DVLA won't record that the car has been repainted. I would guess insurance cost would depend on colour - if its another standard nova colour I can't see this making a jot of difference, but outlandish flips and day glo colours may well up your premium.

Anyway, paint it Mexico Red lol

most insurance companies will cover new paint colours.

Its the "style" you have to eatch for.

If you have a crash with a car covered in flip paint is can be expensive to repair and replace - usually involving a whole shell respray to match it up. Therefore (on modern cars) they chances are they wont accept it or increase excess considerably.

HOWEVER - you drive a Nova - unless its a show car and is registerred with the insurance company for its total value based on receipts (not many companies do this) - then any bump will result in a basic write off so I dont think you'll have a problem.

If youre spraying it in a standard colour (metalic or otherwise) - providing its a proper car colour and you can supply the paint code then you will be okay.
