My old install

single 10" in low-profile box, just above that were two amps, and above them a pair of 6x9's were hidden under the carpet.

Pro plus??! You'll be disappointed with that, wont be as punchy or as bassy as you'll expect, if you're looking for that sort of thing. Over time you'd be better of with a decent 12" like Vibe, Kicker, JBL or even a Kenwood.

10-03-06, 02:02 PM
........i already installed it temperally, im very pleased with it to be honest, it does the job and im not really into all that boom boom chav stylee! just thought i would buy it as its cheap and cheerful also the box is v. nice! only 75 squid it was a bargain!

10-03-06, 02:10 PM
Thats alright then - means you can spend more money on a funky boot install + theres no point to a power cap unless you're running some heavy ICE.

Lol? Decent? Kenwood? JBL?

JL, yes... JBL... no lol

jbowman
10-03-06, 06:01 PM
I was stretching it a bit with the Kenwood, shoulda said Momo Polk, but the new JBL GTO 1202D's with twin coils do the business.
I know everyone has seen the JBL BTX250 bass tubes - they dont do the subwoofer range any justice.
Trust me on this one - I fit them and sell them.

Jack
10-03-06, 08:33 PM
Hmm, my mate had a 12" JBL and tbh I wasn't particularly impressed ... although to be fair it wasn't running through a particularly good amp, and I think it was only JBL's budget sub (at the time). He's now bought my old twin 12" sony subs and Magnat combat 4000 amp which works well together.

Myself, I've got a single 10" JL 10W3v2 and Alpine MRD M605 amp, built a proper sized box for the sub and I can't fault it

jbowman
10-03-06, 08:50 PM
The old JBL subs dont even compete with the new GTO1202D's, they need to have sufficient power as they can take up to 1200w. I did an install with two of these subs and a GTO4000 amp powered them pretty well - too loud for my liking.

Don't forget that JBL are really a PA company, on the rigs that we run a 15" is still a mid cone!

By all accounts the GTO's are improving. But i still don't fancy one. Thinking about a Vibe Fli Trap in a 10". Anyone got any light to shed on these? Really i just need some Kick and floor tom definition.

Cheers

Got the Fli's at work, they're pretty good and Vibe build. I'd go for the Fli 12". We have them for ?99 - same price as the Fli 10". They are good for the money - only thing that puts me off is the grey colour.

The grey doesn't bother me really. The boot's still grey anyway.

Where abouts are you working?

Thats the Bat 1 bumper (iirc the Bat 2 came with the foglights), or a copy of the Bat 1, which would make it a Scorpion or KC bumper.

Thanks, everything you see has either started as mdf or fiberglass! we had it stripped out for a year then decided to do it all in one week! pulled a few all nighters as well! Hits 154db and has broken the front window 3 times  last was a max power live.

Not a Nova but, This one was a nice cheap setup, took me an afternoon, and was easy to take out if needed, just based amp and changer box on shape of the sub box. Did eventually uprate both sub and amp but all fitted in the same boxes.
