:tard: just slapped a 600w ( peak ) amp in the boot to power my 6x9s and front shelf speakers . Wierd thing is when ever I start the motor - theres a hiss from the 6x9s ( almost as if theres a snake in the boot ) as the rear amp powers up . Don,t mean to sound daft , but is this normal ? :tard:

Interference from the alternator, the rca's are well away from the power cables aren't they?

yes - rca s down left side , power down the right . The amp however is screwed down on top of a vibe 10 sub( which has its own amp in built ) so praps thats the cause OR due to the jvc head unit I,m using ( only one phono out ) the phono has been split 3 ways + / - twice at source , one set of + /- direct to sub , the other +/- split to phonos on the amp for the internal speakers thus using two amps for volume.......? Sounds fine tho ...till you either key the ignition or turn it off. ??

sounds like poor signal qaulity and rca's then, and you might want to upgrade the head unit to one wth more outputs, this should sort it out.

i had that car eletric specialists can sell you something to help. Forgot what they are called but it fixes to the side of the altenator. I have one on "the ****ter" if you want. But its a ford but should work all the same.
is that rca's down the left hand side from a driver's POV? if so then there is the loom down there that runs all the rear electrics. in which case that may be where you interfearance is coming from. also bad earths can give a horrible hiss/burble.
or you'l be getting a nice whiiiiiiine as the revs increase and decrease.
As said, probably interferance in the RCA's

Its called ground loop mate. You gettin the whine from the alternator as mentioned. Usually caused by bad earth, rca's near power cable.

^^ I think they are called surpressors. (sp)
Try maybe looking for another earth point in the car. Might sort it out.
I get a whine that goes up and down with the revs, its indistinguishable when the tunes are on though. I have power cable running down drivers side, and the phono and remote cable running down the near side. My earth from the amp is connected through a screw hole below the tailgate. Dont know what the whine is but it took me a morning to hide the wires so I can't be bothered to re do it.
dannyb, the whine that you'l be getting is being caused by the power loom on the nearside that runs the rear electrics.
Cheers

Nice one, cheers mate! Would it be wise to relocate wiring, if so where?
Run your power down the nearside so that way all the power cables for the back of the car are together. Run your rca's down the drivers side as there is no cabling there. should solve you problem, also check that you have a good earth.
