make sure the inlet manifold is the round port type. use an sr dizzy. you might only need a regulator if the pressure is not to high from the spi pump

to be honest id check that the sri head is compatible with the bottom end that you are using. i use air filters only because say something does flick up off the road and into the bay then its game over some say it will be fine but id rather not risk it. with the cams ytou defo want the kit i use the piper cams bp300 which is very wild the cams that are reccomended with 40's are the 270-290 profile mine is a 300 but it depends what sort of drivabilty you want from it

Avent really got a clue if the head will fit but think its just an sr engine with spi instead of a carb isnt it so the sri head shud fit?? wud be an everyday drive so ill have 2 check sum cams out on ebay or something, cheers

You could use a regulator with your SPI pump.
The SPi pump is too high pressure for carbs.

The SRI head will be fine on the 1400 bottom end.
Use a 1.4Sr coil/dizzy etc as womble said.

You dont NEED air filters, but i would recommend them.

the free sr engine i picked up is apparently 105bhp and only has a piper 275 (iirc) cam and some sort of 'monster carb' its bored out to a 1500 as well
i dunno if the guy is full of bs but a free engine is a free engine, im hoping to t40 that and want about 115bhpish from it
