Car's coming along quite nicely now compared to when it was shi*boxed when i first got it.
The only thing spoiling it to fuc* is the shi**y front. Will a GTE grille fit on? i dont think, but unsure. Basically whats the most effective, easy change-over?? Cheers

What car is it ie 1.2 etc. If it is something like that the GTE grill goes straight on.

its a 1.0L so you reckon a GTE grille will just go straight on? at the mo, i got the bog standard offensive grey thing, you know the one, big griffin badge in the centre.

yeah mod your standerd grill
cut out the slats and mesh from the back
it looks far nicer than a gte grill if done properly as the intake is bigger.
i did this on my white nova back in the days when it was a mk1 and it looked spot on (until sum tit reversed into my front end X-( )

hold on - big griffin in the middle - its not the bumper and grill moulded together is it?
if it is you need a sr/gte bumper to get a gte grill on.

No, its a thre way screw mechanism and once theyre released it just comes off in your hand. Its the grey plasticy grille 1990 and below.

I did as descirbed above, i.e cut the slats our of a standard grill, only I left in the top one as you'll see in the pic below.

The only thing to watch if you do this, is that you end up with triangular shaped holes in the sides where the slats used to join, so you have to fill and smooth these. Best way is to bond some fibreglass sheet or similar to the back to give support for the filler.
Also, use better filler than I used, 'cos mines started to crack...been on the car 18 months though, so lasted quite well considering.
I'm starting on a new one soon that I'll do much better, and I'll put a guide on novabug.
