I need to get more power out of a SRi engine, whats the best way to go about this, 1600 head? 1300 head? carb it cam it need some help please? Don't really want to change the whole engine but swapping heads isn't a problem. Or just get the 1400 head flowed.

Thanks:thumb:

got one of the best heads as standard, its virtually the same as the 1.6

more power, get some twin 40's, and a new cam, and do some head work to your current head

and looking at the speedo pic.. just shy of 120, in reality, that only about 105-110mpg lol

i swear the posts about a 1400 sri? so how can it not be bad for a 1300sr?
and as ste says remember your speedos normally out after 100mph so id say you were doin bout 110mph there, also this is a forum police can view and that picture is proof of braking the speed limit. :thumb:

would bother with 0-60, prefer to work on 0-100ish for the 1/4 mile :D

Doing the mods Ste suggested would give a total power output of about 105-110bhp.

Meh, personally i would get a lightened/balanced flywheel, and a decent cam and headwork and stick with the MPi injection system.

That should also better the most likely 40miles to a tenner of petrol when running carbs.

Nearly all novas, 1.2/1.3/1.4 etc will pull to a 120mph on the nova speedo, so i've heard anyway lol

exactly, might as well concentrate more on quicker acceleration than top end, you aint gonna get much more out of it!

Just mod the 1400, or fit a std 1600 with a f13cr box, with a 4.18FD.

A SRi engine wont be far off 1600 power tho, with a full exhaust, decat, and 4 branch manifold.
It would be a close match for a std 1600.
Plus cheaper tax and insurance.
