erm WTF are you doing with your TD to make it need a diff lmao.
anyway my personal preference is a plate diff (i know this will annoy dar lol) as its not snatchy like an ATB.
BUT if you wnat to fit and forget, get the ATB, id you dont mind dropping the diff now and then for a service then get a plate.

its currently running 17psi of boost lol and in first and second and sometimes third it spins up the passenger side wheel when the boost kicks in lol.
what exactly do you mean by snatchy?? do you mean its not as fast to respond?

The nature of an ATB means it has a small time delay before loading up to "lock", and when it does it can be a bit snatchy/grabby. Eg going into a bendm you apex it and plant it, the atb with load then grab and possilby pull you into the inside edge of the bend (had this happen a few times lol), but with a plate as its working all the time you can deck it and you wont get a snatchy entrance into the inner edge of the bend lol.
with that much torque, its simplay going to light up both wheels when accelerating lol. Get better tyres

Dar will really crap a brick over that, lmao

i dont like the sound of an atb at all and it aint that much torque only about 120ft lbs at the mo lol, and in your opinion which tyres should i go for they have to be 185 and 14's otherwise it'll spoil the looks lol

No comment! lol - Well not really :D

ATB's are no where near as bad as Stu paints them.

The ATB diff is alot easier to deal with on a day to day basis, you basically don't know its there until you find that the car grips like a bitch around bends. This business about them loading up is something i've never noticed.

Both types of diff work well and it is personal choice. The plate diff does have the advantage in an out and out fight for performance, but it is more difficult to drive with a plate diff in the car. turning at low speed is more difficult and they tend to lock in to position once the power is supplyed to the diff.

For your purposes I would reccomend a ATB diff.

Quick edit: If you where to say that you had a big BHP car that you where going to race then I would reccomend the plate diff :thumb:

Can't say i've ever had any snatchyness with my ATB either, one of the best mods i've done. I found plate diffs real hard work at low speed driving, so in a road car stick with the fit and forget ATB. Can't comment on plate type performance on track as i've never tried one on a circuit!

cant say i noticed it being a pain at low speed with a plate diff, ok its a bit heavier but when modding a car up for track/rally abuse then you expect to trade off some things.
Yes the ATB will feel like a normal diff until you load it up (its that time to load that i have an issue with, ok its not long but its still lag in the system).
im sure ive been a bit pedantic about the snatch of the ATB, and once working they both essentially do the same job. and as ive said, if you want a nice simple low maintenece fit and forget job, get an ATB, otherwise a plate is ideal

also plate diff's tend to wear the plates out. lmao 17psi of boost, wow

In said to Dar if this was to come up on here i would back him up on a vote for the ATB.

Having said that i have only drove my mates civic turbo with a Plate diff and it was realy nice to drive did not feel any harshness or that. But he said it is abit of a pain adjusting it, thats all on the bad side.

But i was also reading that the ATB was ment for high power/torque fwd cars. And they are the best option for the road/track uses. I guess that its 6 and 2x3 again.

P.S i have just bought a ATB!! So i will hopefully find out soon.
