good points - fast, best engine (xe) in the world,
bad points - to common in novas/corsas, insurance
Bad point... Paying regal ?3500 for a ?500 job!!!!!!
Bad point... Paying regal ?3500 for a ?500 job!!!!!!
500 includes buying the engine pmsl lol
bad points - to common in novas/corsas,
This doesnt have to be a bad point. yeah, its a common conversion, but there wouldnt be so many if it wasnt well worth doing!
Id say another bad point is a reduction in handling, but this can be compensated for with a decent suspension setup.

Hey Stu I know you're probably bias but do you rekon a Red Top is better (or more reliable) than that Civic engine that they use in the Ariel atom?
They tested that on a non stop arctic trip and it never fails.
Of course we probably support the Vauxhall but has anyone owned both to compare?
erm wtf lol.
ive never mentioned a honda engine...
you cant possibly compare the two, theres at least 10 years between them. Its like saying 'whats better, an Astra 2 GTe or a civic type R?'

Well I thought they are pretty similar in that the civic is being used in other things aside from a civic. They are both 2.0L and many have been sold/made.
But I agree the civic will have to stand the test of time to see if it becomes as legendary as the Red Top.
i think hondas 2.0 vtec engines are already MORE legendary than the red top as most red tops are getting on and are fecked unless tuned with a good rebuild etc. Also the ford boys have slowly stopped fitting XE's into their Mk1/2 rally cars and are now putting carbed high compression Cossie engines in so the XE is slipping on that front. Yes its a great engine that takes endless abuse but its not nessecaraly a true legend (not in the merlin sense of it anyway)
good points - fast, best engine (xe) in the world,
 lol lol
