I have a 1300 head to go on my 1400, which will soon run twin carbs and a piper cam. Anyway, i just wondered if you have to skim the 1300 head to get the compression right? My dad can get it done at work but we will need to know how much to do it.
Anybody any idea?

well if you skim the head too much then the compression would be way too much.
I would only skim the head if it is warped or damaged
iirc CP's son put a 1300 head onto a 1400 bottom end and it was a bit high on the CR... measure the 1300 head capacity and compare to the 1400's then do the following calc
CR = (Swept Vol + Head Vol (and piston dish)) / Swept vol
