Engine conversions and MOT?

Has anybody got any information about MOTing car's with different engines converted into them?, this is because i want to fit a 1.4 sri engine into my 1.2 spi and am a bit confused about the law's for MOT testing and the new online testing:confused: , obviously i will be changing it to a 1.4 sri on the logbook and for insurance etc.

Any info would be appreciated

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you inform the dvla of the new engine number and cc etc.

mot side if your car needs a cat but the engine does not ie pre 92 you wll have to prove how old the engine is to get away with no cat as i have a 92 year nova with a 90 year astra engine
