alright lads i need help .i have a gt4 vent 4 my bonnet. i positioned it ,marked out the shape and cut it but the light strengthening bar in the very middle of the bonnet is keepin it up and it wont sit into the bonnet like it should. in case u havent seen the shape up close this vent is not like all the others e.g subaru, monterey etc. in these the hole is cut out and the vent gets bonded to the top of the bonnet but on the gt4 u cut the shape and the middle of the vent (where the mesh goes)sits into the bonnet.could i cut the bar in the middle, its my only option really, any solutions. dont just take the piss and give the same old answers like leave it stick up and use some p38 to smooth it in this wont help!!!!!

Is there any way that you can just cut a small amount away from the strengthening bar accross the middle???? On Ians, I think he has gotten rid of that altogether, but then he did use a ton of filler aswell by the looks of it!!!
Despite what you say about using P38, if you want the vent to be smoothed in you have to use some sort of filler!!!
Nice car, what's the retail on one of those?

be careful cutting the strengthening bar, if you weaken this the bonnet will bend, the top skin of metal is very thin and has no strength, if you cut that bar it will probably bend and crack your scoop when you slam it to close it.

could you not cut the bar - fit the vent and then weld something to strangthen underneath?
would this work?

you could fashion/fettle a bit of angle iron to becom the bar around the vent hole. this would form a strengthener ring around the entrance (ohh er sounds dodgy).
Ohh Ahhhh
